The nonprofit Inside Broadway group performed Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Ladies" at P.S. 47 in Parkchester Tuesday.
The performers are touring the city's public schools.
"Rather than just having a child in their classroom reading about Duke Ellington, now what we're doing is bringing it to life for them," says the group's Valerie Lynn Williams.
The show, a musical, paired jazz and dancing during the Harlem Renaissance.
The students responded with cheers and applause.
