A group of Bronx pastors and their congregants rallied outside the NYPD's 43rd Precinct building in Soundview Monday to show support for police amid rising tensions between law enforcement and communities around the country.
Police officers joined hands with civilians as clergy members prayed for those who put their lives at risk to keep neighborhoods safe.
Many of the people in attendance said they came to show solidarity after police-involved slayings in Louisiana and Minnesota, as well as the fatal attack on police in Dallas that followed.
NYPD officers at the rally thanked the participants and said they hoped to mend ties with the community.
