If you've ever wanted to be cast as an extra in a movie, today might be your chance.
"Happy Gilmore 2" – a sequel to Adam Sandler's 1996 hit movie – will be filming in Atlantic Highlands and the casting company is looking for extras. According to Backstage - a website that lists current job openings for actors - Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for men aged 18 or older to portray 1990s golf tournament spectators. They should be able to provide golf attire such as khaki pants and polo-style shirts or casual attire such as "timeless" jeans and shirts. They also ask that potential cast members do not have "super-modern hairstyles."
The shoot will take place in Atlantic Highlands today and the job pays a $176 flat rate for a 10-hour workday, the job listing states.
Last month, hundreds of people crowded into the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Morristown where open auditions for extras were taking place. They waited in line, some carrying golf clubs, with the hope of snagging a spot as a cast member alongside Sandler.
"Happy Gilmore 2" will be released on Netflix. According to IMDB, Sandler will reprise his role as Happy Gilmore with Christopher McDonald starring as his nemesis Shooter McGavin. In addition, the film is expected to include Super Bowl champion/Taylor Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce. Scenes are being shot throughout New Jersey, including locations in Bergen, Essex , Morris, Somerset and Monmouth counties.
In recent weeks, Sandler has been spotted along with crew members patronizing various local businesses, including a cafe in Morristown. He spoke about the upcoming shoots during an appearance a few weeks ago on “The Tonight Show” starring Jimmy Fallon.
