Dr. Tracey-Ann Knight works at NYU Langone Health in Brooklyn. She managed a 40-bed COVID isolation unit at the hospital during the height of the pandemic.
A well-known portrait artist painted her with her hospital unit, depicting her in the style of "Rosie the Riveter."
The painting was displayed for several months at the New York Historical Society.
"We are ready to get on with our lives, not forgetting the past but to move on cautiously and to move on more educated in terms of our knowledge of this disease and also to pass on this education and experience to others," she says.
The artist created 50 prints of the painting and has sold 20. He is donating the money to a charity Knight chose - the Nursing Wellness and Resiliency Initiative.
