A flood watch is in effect through 8 a.m. on Friday. Localized severe flooding may cause an elevated threat to life and property through tonight.
Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Park Slope through Crown Heights in Brooklyn are the primary areas of concern before the storms spread across the entire borough.
The heat wave is over and the focus is now shifted to the downpours taking place across the five boroughs. High temperatures have nosedived by at least 10-15 degrees to the low-mid 80s.
Torrential rain is bringing dangerous travel conditions throughout the evening across the city. Rain is expected to become lighter and scattered by Friday morning but there will remain troubled spots throughout the morning commute due to residual flooding and ponding.
