Thousands of high school runners competed Saturday in the
50th annual Manhattan College Cross-Country Invitational in Van Cortlandt Park.
The event is the nation’s largest single-day high
school cross country meet and featured 41 different races across all genders
and experience levels.
Saturday’s event
brought in nearly 8,000 runners. It was founded in 1973 by Ed Bowes and was
one of the first meets to have boys and girls compete on the same day.
