After some warm days last week, colder temperatures are finally catching up to the season Sunday.
The cooler weather is primarily due to high wind gusts, with speeds reaching up to 40 mph. Residents have been urged to use caution when walking and driving due to the strong gusts.
Officials say to be on the lookout of flying debris and drive at slower speeds when crossing bridges.
High winds can also cause power outages, and residents should be prepared by charging cellphones and turning refrigerators to colder settings to prevent food spoilage.
The National Weather Service has also issued a wind advisory throughout New York City, effective through 6 p.m. Monday.
News 12 meteorologists say temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-upper 40s through Wednesday before warming up on Thursday.
