Wind gusts created a hazardous situation in the Bronx when bricks came crashing down from a building in Mott Haven Saturday morning.
The roof of the building, on the corner of 134th Street and Willow Avenue, caved in. Firefighters responded to the scene around 9 a.m. after receiving the call.
Roughly 30 bricks fell at least 13 feet onto the sidewalk below, some breaking upon impact. No one was hurt.
Fire officials say the building is an old freestanding wall and part of an iron works lot.
"Time and weather have weakened the mortar and brick to the point where they were just sitting on top of the wall," said 14th Battalion Chief Paul Miller. "With the high winds this morning, they blew down."
The property owner is now facing violations for failing to maintain the property, according to the department of buildings.
