Hundreds of NYC taxi drivers seek help as they file for unemployment
Complicated, frustrating and confusing are just some of the words New Yorkers are using to describe the process of filing for unemployment.
Dozens of taxi drivers waited for hours Wednesday to get into the limo and car service corporation on Jerome Avenue.

As of now this is the only location assisting drivers with unemployment and any other questions they have.
Antonio Cabrera, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, says the drivers need more help with the process. With the help of Councilmember Rueben Diaz, the goal is to help any New York City taxi driver who needs it.
Anyone who needs help filing online can come by the center 6:30 a.m. to register and can be helped between 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Countries around the world cope with COVID-19
Cabrera hopes they can start doing this in other locations, but the reality is they need the help. Right now, they have one person from Diaz’s office helping more than 100 drivers a day.
In the past couple days, News 12 is told they’ve completed more than 600 applications.
The site on 1700 Jerome Ave. will be open Monday through Friday.
