Hundreds of Castle Hill residents lined up outside of Sapna NYC for an "Iftar on the Go" meal distribution event on Friday.
"Iftar on the Go" began on March 12 and lasts through April 9. The initiative spans across all five boroughs and is put together in partnership with Comptroller Brad Lander and Islamic Relief USA in an effort to combat food insecurity and feed over 8,000 people during the month of Ramadan.
Sapna NYC's executive director Diya Basu-Sen says the event embodies the spirit of Ramadan.
"The spirit of Ramadan really is to share what you have to be kind of grateful for all the blessings that you are given and to be in community," said Basu-Sen.
