Indoor dining is back in New York City, and luckily, customers could get out of the cold and freezing rain causing slippery conditions.

Restaurants opened their doors on Friday, welcoming customers back inside for the first time since mid-December.

Last summer, restaurants were operating at limited capacity for indoor dining but that all changed on Dec. 14 when Gov. Andrew Cuomo shut it down.

This meant restaurants had to rely on takeout and delivery or turn to outdoor dining. Many said that was nearly impossible with the snowfall we've seen over the last two weeks.

Some owners also raised complaints that restaurants just outside the city, like in Westchester or Long Island, were not restricted the way restaurants were in the five boroughs.

For now, restaurants can have indoor dining at 25% capacity, but owners say it's still not enough.

They say reopening indoor dining feels like a step toward getting life back to normal.
