More than a dozen interns learned to care for burial sites of the interred through a program at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Jontae Stanley says she had been working a dead-end job before coming to Woodlawn.
She and 14 other interns in the cemetery's preservation training program took part in a project to restore a family monument.
They learned to clean, repair and mortar graveyard stones and earned certifications to help them get jobs.
Many of them scored interviews before they even graduated the program.
