New Jersey remains on
alert as the search for the Brooklyn subway shooting
suspect continues. Some riders say they are tense but moving
forward.
“It’s just something we have to do, keep going,” says Jackie
Moruzzi, of New York City. “I was a little nervous but ultimately that’s the
quickest way to get to work.”
PATH riders were tense but doing their best to remain calm on
their daily commutes.
“Yeah, I’m comfortable. You just have to be on point, watch your
surroundings, don’t stand so close to the platform, stay off your phone, keep
awake. Just be on point, you know,” says Eddie
Terrell, of Brooklyn.
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop says an increased police presence
will remain on the streets and underground. Still, many remain
on edge.
“I have a baby boy so imagine having to go on a train with him in
something like that happens you know what I’m saying,” says Syrine Hicks, of
Jersey City. “It’s just getting to the point where it’s dangerous everywhere
you go."
Fulop says to expect to the heightened law enforcement
presence on trains and at terminals at least until that suspect is
caught.
The suspect, Frank James, 62, has been taken into custody, according to sources.
