A New Jersey woman says she regrets spending nearly $9,000 on a matchmaking service that didn’t meet her expectations.
Donna Nicosia signed up with The Matchmaking Company in Cranford, purchasing eight matches and six coaching sessions.
Nicosia says the men she met didn’t share her values or interests.
She asked for a refund, but the company declined, citing a no-refund policy in the contract.
Consumer advocate Adam Levin says matchmaking services can be useful, especially for busy people, but urges customers to understand refund policies before committing.
Online reviews for the company range from 1 on Yelp to 4 on Google. The BBB says its page is being updated due to an investigation.
The company’s attorney said it provided two bonus introductions and believes her refund request is unwarranted.
After 19 months, Nicosia no longer expects a refund but wants to warn others to think twice before signing.
