Kids in Riverdale took advantage of the day off from school and spent the day sledding.

Ewen Park, on West 231st Street, was filled with sleds on Monday afternoon.

News 12 spoke with families who say sledding has become a tradition.

"The kids were looking forward to this since yesterday, they knew the snow was coming, and today was no school day a no work day, so we made it a sleigh day," said Ghassan Khalil, who brought his kids sledding.

For some, it was their first time ever partaking in the winter activity.

"It's nice, i'm just sledding, I got hurt a few times but I didn't give up," said 8-year-old Ardsley.
