Loved ones and family members came together on Thursday night to mourn the loss of 34-year-old Christian Torres.
According to the NYPD, Torres was stabbed and killed on Wednesday at 2448 University Ave. just before 2 p.m. First responders discovered the victim with a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Many in the building say they knew the victim as a good person who never sought out trouble. Dozens came out to the corner of University Avenue and West 188th Street to share Torres' story and what he meant.
"I miss my brother, and I love him so much," said Cleveland Young, a longtime friend of the victim. "He went to work, he took care of his mother, he took care of all his people, and we were all there for him as much as he was there for us."
Police sources say that Torres was followed into the building by a group of people the afternoon he was killed. Video shows at least five men running from the building around that time.
Law enforcement sources say that they have identified a person of interest, but no arrests have been made at this time.
