Kingsbridge residents take part in nationwide 'Good Trouble Lives On' rally

More than 100 Kingsbridge residents took to the streets Thursday night to protest against the current administration during the Good Trouble Lives on Rally in honor of the late Rep. John Lewis.
“One of John Lewis’s phrases that he always said, 'Make good trouble,' so that’s what we’re doing," said resident Maryann King.
“We’re here defending immigrants, we’re here defending the social safety nets, cuts to Medicaid to food stamps," said Dan Guenzburger, of the group, Northwest Bronx Indivisible.
“It’s going to disproportionately hurt people in the Bronx," said resident Nancy Bolan.
The bill that was signed into law earlier this month by President Donald Trump includes reductions for businesses and new tax breaks. To offset these losses, cuts to Medicaid and food assistance could take effect as early as 2026.
“This district is one of the top districts in the country that is going to be hit by this bill they just passed that is going to be cut off from Medicaid," said Bolan.
According to the state Department of Health, more than 900,000 residents in Bronx County are currently enrolled in Medicaid.
Republicans argue the goal is to keep Medicaid for those who are truly in need.
