Law enforcement officers give back through 'Ballin' For Christmas' event

Members of law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day got the chance to give back in a different way this holiday season.

Members of law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day got the chance to give back in a different way this holiday season.
Police officers and correction officers took part in the fourth annual "Ballin' for Christmas" event on Saturday in West Farms.
Karen Tyson, of the Correction Officers Benevolent Association, teamed with with NYPD Lt. Quathisha Epps to host the event.
Participating officers traded in their badges for sweatbands to shoot some hoops with local kids, who also received donated toys.
The participating members of law enforcement are also athletes who compete in a nationwide basketball program called Battle of the Badges, which aims to inspire youngsters to follow their dreams and go pro.
