LIPA has approved contract plans to build two lithium-ion battery facilities in Suffolk County.
One of the facilities will be built in Hauppauge at 220 Rabro Drive.
The other facility will be built on part of the former Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant.
LIPA says the plants will help achieve clean energy goals and are expected to be complete by 2028.
The projects are expected to cost customers an additional 30 cents a month.
