LIRR resuming South Fork commuter connection service following pandemic cuts
The service offers local LIRR trips, stopping in Speonk, Westhampton, Hampton Bays, Southampton Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk from Monday through Friday.

Rail Road’s South Fork commuter
connection is back after being suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The move means
more LIRR trains will be running on Long Island's South Fork in hopes of
getting people where they need to be on time and cutting down on traffic on the
roads.
In March 2020, the LIRR suspended the South Fork commuter connection because of COVID-19 and financial challenges the railroad faced.

The service adds two morning and two afternoon trains, stopping in Speonk, Westhampton, Hampton Bays, Southampton Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk from Monday through Friday.
Officials say lawmakers and the LIRR secured funding to get the service running again. They say because of the population growth on the East End during the pandemic, this service is more important than ever.
"Any chance we have to get commuters out of their cars onto public transit reducing traffic is a win-win-win for customers community and the environment," says LIRR President Phil Eng.
The South Fork commuter connection will resume service on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
