Investigators say a lit cigar is responsible for causing a fire on School Street in Yonkers last month.

They say a man without a home fell asleep with that lit cigar, causing a 4-alarm fire that spread to four buildings, with a partial collapse of the first building. Two of those buildings are now destroyed.

At least a dozen families were left displaced.

The man is now charged with criminal mischief and trespassing.

The fire was ruled accidental. No one was seriously injured.
