Litter on a Pelham Bay street has some business owners saying their cleanup efforts are a waste.
Outside the Pelham Bay Park station, where thousands of commuters pass through every day, trash litters the sidewalk despite an abundance of trash cans local business owners have placed out.
New York City sanitation law says that sidewalks and gutters along building perimeters must be cleaned, or businesses there will face fines.
But the businesses say they're getting tired of cleaning up after litterbugs. Community activists are also involved, asking passersby to stop dropping trash on the ground.
The city's Department of Sanitation says it will look into the area's troubles.
