Lives Forward program paves pathway for mental health resources in prison

Ten inmates are changing the lives of others in jail by becoming mental health professionals.
The students just finished six weeks of the Lives Forward program at the Valhalla campus of the Departments of Correction.
In the first stage of the program, they received certificates for Mental Health Peer Specialist and the Recovery Peer Advocates training courses.
The students will work toward state certification to be Peer Specialists and Certified Recovery Peer Advocates for other inmates.
