Lloyd's Carrot Cake, a famous Riverdale hotspot, is closing temporarily for renovations.
"We are looking to redo our floors, our walls. We're going to try and see if we can get a little more space in the back. Because we are vying for storage space," said Lilka Adams, co-owner of Lloyd's Carrot Cake
Adams told News 12 they chose August to do the renovations because it is known to be a slower month for business.
She said the last time they did renovations was in 2007, and it's time for some much-needed work.
Customers were lining up outside to get a last-minute piece of cake before the store closes.
The last day of operations will be Saturday, Aug. 9, and the store does not have a reopening date set.
The owner said they hope to reopen in mid- to late-September, although mentioned she won't be surprised it it takes longer.
Lloyd's Harlem location will remain open for customers looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.
