Two firearms were found Tuesday in front of I.S. 206, temporarily placing the school on lockdown and landing a man in police custody.

After arriving at the school, police say they found two loaded handguns under a vehicle. Officers saw a man matching the description given by school employees and took him into custody.

A Department of Education spokesperson says in a statement: "The school was placed on a temporary shelter in due to a non-school related incident in the area. The NYPD immediately responded and students are safe."

There was no word on what the man's intentions were.
