Local ice cream shop serves Bronx-made flavor 50 years later

Theresas Gourmet Ice Cream is one of the only places left that serves "Lily with Nuts Italian Ice." The ice flavor was invented in the Bronx and was popular in the 1950's and is not sold in many spots anymore due to it being unpopular.

Theresas Gourmet Ice Cream is one of the only places left that serves "Lily with Nuts Italian Ice." The ice flavor was invented in the Bronx and was popular in the 1950's and is not sold in many spots anymore due to it being unpopular.
"Whenever the customer orders a lily with nuts, there’s usually a story associated with it, whether it brings them back to the neighborhood if they left, thinking of their grandma or grandpa or even reminiscing the past," said Celia, the shop owner’s daughter.
News 12’s Brittany Cadet caught up with the owners of the beloved Bronx shop to talk about the popular ice flavor and other sweets the shop has to offer.
