The historic Orchard Beach Pavilion is reopening just in time for beach season.
For the first time in 17 years, the public can once again access the Orchard Beach Pavilion.
The reopening comes after a $114 million reconstruction project led by New York City Parks and New York City Economic Development Corporation.
The newly renovated pavilion features improved accessibility and brand-new concession spaces for visitors to enjoy.
Sonya, who’s lived in The Bronx her whole life, has anticipated the pavilion reopening for years.
“We’ve waited so long for this. The environment, the fun, it’s in The Bronx. We get together the community and it’s so beautiful out here and I’m gonna enjoy it all summer,” she said.
NYC Parks public beaches officially open this Saturday.
