Former Long Islander Steve Dash, known for playing the iconic horror slasher Jason Voorhees, has died. He was 74 years old.

Dash, who lived in Bethpage for years, passed away due to complications from a long battle with diabetes in Florida.

The retired NYPD officer recently had his leg amputated and was keeping his fans updated on social media about his condition.

In the first Friday the 13th sequel, Dash brought life to the adult version of Jason Voorhees for the very first time.
