Customers at a Morrisania post office say they're fed up after waiting hours in long lines, only to leave empty-handed.

Many people who were walking out of the U.S. Postal Service on East 167th Street told News 12 they waited up to three to four hours. After that, they found out their packages were either missing or not ready for pickup.

"Three or four hours to get a package. And then you get to the front of the line. They don't have your package at all," said Justine Brown, who lives in the neighborhood.

Customers say short staffing is to blame, describing an unorganized scene inside the post office. Some say the frustration is escalating, with arguments breaking out and police called to the location multiple times.

News 12 visited the location last week and saw a line outside and police at the scene.

USPS said delays were tied to weather issues and that crews are working to get operations back on track.

It sent the following statement:

"Bronx postal officials confirm Morrisania deliveries are current, however, certain items must be picked up by customers at the local post office or they will be returned to sender. As we continue to clear the backlog of packages, we remind the community that the Postal Service takes the security of the mail and the safety of our employees very seriously and have zero tolerance for threats."
