Mamaroneck police arrested suspect in several Connecticut burglaries
Mamaroneck police have arrested a Queens man who is suspected of several burglaries in Connecticut.
Early Monday morning, an officer saw a suspicious car idling with its light off outside of a businesses on East Boston Post Road, police say.
When the officer approached, they immediately drove away.
A little while later, the officer found the same car had crashed near North Barry Avenue and First Street but no one was inside.
News 12 is told these officers, and others from Larchmont, Peekskill, and the MTA all worked together and searched the area -- finding the suspect hiding in someone's backyard.
They arrested the man, identified as Rickford Vyphuis, and found out the car had been stolen from New York City earlier this month, and that he was wanted for several burglaries in Connecticut.
When officers searched the car, they found burglars tools such as pry bars and hammers.
Vyphuis now faces numerous charges.
