Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani unveiled more than 400 new appointments to his transition team on Monday.
It's an effort he says will help shape his incoming administration and guide its work across New York City.
The transition team is made up of 17 committees, including two new groups for a mayoral transition team: the Worker Justice Committee and the Community Organizing Committee.
“We stand here with a remarkable opportunity to create a better New York the kind that arrives if we are lucky once in a generation,” Mamdani said.
The mayor-elect says his transition office has already received more than 70,000 applications since launching the process earlier this month.
The committees will help sort through those applications and recommend the staff and policy experts who will shape the new administration.
The transition committees bring together leaders from government, nonprofits, labor, and community organizations. The 400 appointees will focus on areas ranging from housing and social services to small business development.
Transition leaders say there is widespread excitement about delivering on the mayor-elect’s affordability agenda and improving the quality of life for every day New Yorkers.
