New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani says he will apologize for calling the NYPD "racist" and "homophobic" in a 2020 social media post, according to The New York Times.
Gov. Kathy Hochul told reporters Friday that Mamdani should apologize for his comments.
"I have a lot of respect for him for saying that, and that he was going to do what he can to earn the respect of the men and women at the NYPD. I respect them immensely. I've seen them in action. So, I think it's an appropriate response," Hochul added.
