NYPD searches for suspect who assaulted 83-year-old man getting off bus

A 35-year-old man is in custody following an assault of a 46-year-old on-duty NYPD school crossing guard in Highbridge.

Authorities say the incident happened at Gerard Ave. and East 167 St. just after 8 a.m. on March 5.

According to police, the 46-year-old NYPD school crossing guard was approached and punched in the chest. She was treated at the scene by EMS before being taken to the hospital.

Investigators have arrested 35-year-old Anthony Andrus, who is facing an assault charge.
