Police are looking for the man who allegedly attacked an 11-year-old girl while she was at a park with her classmates.

The attack happened Wednesday around noon at Stuyvesant Square, when the man approached her and began to yell at her and her classmates, police say. He then sprayed water at the victim and attempted to attack her.

When the girl fought back, the man grabbed her by her hair and punched her in the face before wrapping his hands around her neck and beginning to apply pressure, police say.

One of the girl's classmates, a 15-year-old boy, was injured when he tried to intervene and stop the attack, causing the suspect to strike him.

The 11-year-old girl was taken to Mt. Sinai Beth Israel Hospital where she is in stable condition, police say. Her classmate was treated by medical personnel on scene for minor injuries.

Police have released photos of the suspect, who is described as a light-skinned man between the ages of 25 and 35, with facial hair and shoulder-length blonde hair, police say. He was last seen wearing a gray long sleeve shirt, black pants, black sneakers, and sunglasses.
