A man who lived inside of a Bronx building that was the scene of a seven-alarm fire Tuesday morning says he's fearful he may have just lost everything.
Jonny Cabrera has lived inside of 1547 Commonwealth Ave. for 40 years.
Cabrera was rescued by the FDNY after firefighters brought him to the roof before lowering him to the ground using a ladder. He and at least 11 other neighboring apartment units were forced to evacuate after fire erupted on the first floor furniture store below the four-story building around 5:30 a.m.
Tenants ran from the building with just the clothes on their back, others were rescued by the FDNY.
At least a dozen adults and some children have been displaced by the fire, according to officials.
Cabera says all of his belongings, including documents, electronics, and important medical equipment for his diabetic mother, are all inside of his apartment.
Although thankful to be alive, he expressed remorse for victims of the Belmont fire that killed 12 people last week and just hopes to get some of his belongings back.
Fire officials say they are working to determine a cause of the fire.
