A man was found dead in his friend's Bronx apartment early Tuesday morning.
Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to Gerard Avenue near McClellan Street in the Concourse section of the borough. Inside, police say they found a 66-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive with body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was at his 71-year-old friend's home. Police say the resident let his friend inside and left. When he returned, he found the 66-year-old on the floor and called police.
Neighbors tell News 12 the victim was a war veteran. The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Neighbors say this is the second time the surviving man lost someone close to him this year. His wife died in February.
