Alvin Charles pleaded not guilty Friday in the fatal slashing of a man on an L train.
Charles is accused of fatally slashing 43-year-old Tommy Bailey.
Bailey’s family was in attendance, visibly still in anguish over the slashing that occurred just over one month ago. Charles faced a judge at Kings County Supreme Court to be indicted on murder charges.
The fiancé of the late Bailey and his children and loved ones were in court as Charles pleaded not guilty.
Detectives say both Bailey and Charles were on the L train in September when they got into a dispute, which is when they say Charles slashed the Canarsie native in his neck.
Charles’ next court date is Feb. 17. If convicted, he could spend up to 25 years in prison.
