A 43-year-old man was slashed during a botched robbery Wednesday in Claremont Village, according to the NYPD.
It happened at around 5:20 p.m. in front of 3748 3rd Avenue.
Investigators say a man walked up to the victim, demanded money and tried to take jewelry off of his neck. His attempts were not successful.
The man then slashed the 43-year-old in the face.
Paramedics took the victim to St. Barnabas. He is expected to recover, according to the NYPD.
Police say the man they are searching for took off running after the incident, traveling southbound on 3rd Avenue.
He is around 30 years old and was last spotted wearing all black clothing.
