A man is walking hundreds of miles from Connecticut to Washington, D.C. to make a change in education.
Professor Jesse Turner found himself in the Bronx Tuesday, reaching the roughly halfway mark of his 40-day, 400-mile journey. While in the borough, Turner rallied with students from Casa Middle School to call for officials to put less emphasis on testing and more on overall education.
The Central Connecticut State University professor says his ultimate goal is to listen to parents, students and teachers and demand change from authority figures.
Turner plans to be in Newark, New Jersey by the end of this week. His walk is expected to conclude July 24 in Washington.
He has an ongoing blog that documents his journey through daily entries.
