A pet store on the Grand Concourse was burglarized and the manager claims that about $25,000 in animals and merchandise were stolen.
"One of us actually slept here last night to make sure it doesn't happen again,” said Gabby's Pet Discount Shop Manager Christopher Gomez.
"Somebody came in while we were closed. They broke in and stole all the dogs, stole the money out the register, stole the birds,” said Gomez.
Police tell News 12 an unidentified person damaged the front gate and broke the front glass.
In addition to taking animals, the suspect also took dog beds, pet food, animal clothes and cash.
They’re asking the public for help.
"If you guys hear anything about anyone selling animals in the streets -- any exotic animals -- we will please appreciate it if you come in or say something. We just want to make sure the animals are safe again,” said Gomez.
