There has been some prominent backlash stemming from the outcome of this year's presidential election, but Manhattan College is looking to unify its campus community in its wake.

Manhattan College students are uniting to openly discuss the election and make strides forward in terms of dealing with its outcome.

Many students gathered for an open forum with the goal of bringing people together with open minds and hearts.

Organizers say the campus is diverse with a fair amount of both liberals and conservatives -- some of them confident in the results of the election, some of them anxious and nervous about where they now stand in the U.S.

Students from both sides of the political spectrum were encouraged to speak at the event. News 12 is told told that political science professors at Manhattan College have been teaching students to respect the way elections are carried out in the U.S.
