Manhattan College students are on high alert after two students reported being sexually assaulted.
News 12 spoke with juniors and seniors who say they are definitely on edge. The college tells News 12 there were two sexual assaults reported to its Public Safety Department in the past month.
Manhattan College says the assaults happened inside the Overlook dorm. They say one of them took place on Jan. 26 in the early morning hours and that the other incident happened on Feb. 9. That incident was originally reported as a trespassing incident.
However, school officials tell News 12 the student later described with more detail that she woke up to a man in her dorm room, who sexually assaulted her.
Police tell News 12 they are investigating one sexual assault at the dorm but that they can't confirm if the second incident is being investigated at this time.
Police say they are aware of the trespassing incident.
News 12 is told that students must swipe their Manhattan student ID cards to get into the dorm and sign in any guests. The school says it has boosted security at the dorms.
Students tell News 12 all they can do is be aware, make sure their doors are locked and stick together until someone is caught.
