yesterdayJesus Rivas-Figueroa has been indicted in connection to the shooting of a tourist in Times Square and for also firing shots at an NYPD officer who attempted to arrest him, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
The 15-year-old now faces two charges of attempted murder, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He also faces one charge of assault.
Court documents state that at around 7 p.m. on Feb. 8, Rivas-Figueroa and others attempted to steal merchandise from JD Sports in Times Square. When confronted by a store employee, Rivas-Figueroa allegedly took out a gun and fired at the employee. The bullet missed the employee and struck a 38-year-old female tourist from Brazil.
Store employees called 911 as Rivas-Figueroa fled the scene. Two nearby NYPD officers attempted to take him into custody, which is when Rivas-Figueroa allegedly turned and fired at one of the officers while fleeing.
Rivas-Figueroa was found the next day hiding at a Yonkers house. A court date has yet to be set.
