Manhattan man sentenced for defrauding 89-year-old relative of his Soundview home

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the sentencing of a Manhattan man for defrauding his 89-year-old relative of his Soundview home.
Frank Blackshear, 47, will serve six months behind bars and four years' probation for falsifying records to steal his grandfather-in-law's home on Taylor Avenue.
DA Clark says the scheme happened between February and May 2023, while the victim, Milton Roberts, was staying in a nursing home.
Blackshear transferred Roberts’ property, a value of $698,000, with a deed bearing himself as the trustee, according to DA Clark.
The DA says Blackshear also crafted legal documents to grant his wife, Jessica, power of attorney, and additional documents to give the couple control over Roberts' assets and health care.
Blackshear was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing. He pleaded guilty on Sept. 3.
Clark says the court ordered Blackshear to transfer the house back to Roberts and reimburse him for legal fees.
"Deed theft is a merciless crime that robs people of their homes, community, and financial stability. This defendant took advantage of a vulnerable elderly man. Now, he will spend time behind bars and pay restitution for the victim's legal fees,” said Clark.
