1 horse dead, another found emaciated in Goshen: The discovery was made Saturday on a remote patch of land on Medura Lane in Goshen's Black Dirt farming region. Authorities say neighbors alerted them to the conditions, and that one horse was found starved and the other severely malnourished.
2 homeless men found dead in NYC subway in 12-hour period: The first body was found Friday night on a C train in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood. The 56-year-old man was not identified. Then on Saturday, 61-year-old Robert Mangual was pronounced dead on a No. 4 train in Brooklyn.
Sinkhole swallows car with driver and dog inside in OceansideThe incident happened at Fulton and Lexington avenues just before 8 p.m. Monday. Officials say the sinkhole was created by a water main break in the area.

Councilwoman urged to resign following tirade against mayor:  A Trenton city councilwoman is being urged to resign after getting into a profanity-laced homophobic argument with the city’s mayor. The argument took place over the phone during a briefing. Councilwoman Robin Vaughn’s words are mostly targeted at Mayor Reed Gusciora, who is openly gay.
