Mayor Eric Adams announced a plan Wednesday to make streets safer by enforcing speed limits for e-bikes and e-scooters.

The proposed policy includes a citywide 15 mph speed limit for the electric vehicles on city streets.

Adams also renewed a push for the City Council to take up legislation to create a commercial delivery license to improve delivery worker safety.

The proposed legislation to create a Department of Sustainable Delivery has stalled in the City Council.

The proposed speed limit rule mirrors similar legislation in other parts of the world, including the European Union's 25 kph speed limit on e-bikes.
