Mayor Eric Adams announced Thursday that an additional 1,000 officers will be deployed to patrol the Bronx.

“And we’re going to ensure that they are in the hot spots," said Mayor Eric Adams.

The announcement at Haffen Park came after more than a dozen shootings in the borough within a week. It includes a mass shooting at the park over the weekend that left one man dead.

Other prevention efforts by the city include ground efforts, like identifying different gang rivals.

“We’re going to reach out to gang members, the shooters, the trigger pullers and see if we can sit down around the table and talk about how we can end this violence," said Mayor Adams.
