Whenever a vaccine is ready, the city wants to make sure it is prepared.
Mayor Bill de Blasio along with the city health commissioner released a two-phase vaccination plan.
He says during phase one, there might be a limited supply of the coronavirus vaccine. During this phase, essential and health care workers and people who need the vaccine will be prioritized.
Phase two will focus on expanding the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public distributing to even more hospitals and COVID-19 testing sites.
Scientists have been working on a vaccine for months, although none of them have been approved for distribution by the FDA.
