Mayor de Blasio wins Democratic nomination for re-election
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has won the Democratic nomination in his re-election bid.
The mayor won with over 74 percent of the vote over four other candidates. 
In the City Council District 18 race, state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr. won the Democratic nomination. His son, incumbent Ruben Diaz Jr., won the primary for Bronx borough president. Elsewhere for Bronx Democrats vying for City Council, incumbent Andy King won District 12; incumbent Fernando Cabrera won District 14; and incumbent Rafael Salamanca Jr. won District 17.
Letitia James handily won the Democratic primary for public advocate.
The mayor goes on to the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 7 where he will run against State Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis.
