An iconic cultural landmark in the city has reopened its doors and is welcoming back visitors.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art first opened its doors to members only starting Thursday for the first time since shutting down on March 12, but all are welcome back starting this weekend.
"It was beyond The Met being open, it was all about New York is taking another step,” said head of visitor experience Will Sullivan.
Due to the pandemic, capacity at the museum is limited and they ask that visitors buy a timed ticket or make a reservation online before arriving.
Before visitors can go into the museum, every guest must first line up for a temperature check before heading to the main entrance.
"You can keep your physical distance from people, wear a mask - wear a mask and enjoy the galleries,” said Sullivan.
The MET also has a special exhibit visitors can see right now to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the MET called “Making The MET” about the museum’s history.
